Re-entry Visa allows non-EU citizens owning an Italian Residence Permit (permesso di soggiorno) to re-entry Italy in case their Italian RP has expired, has been stolen or lost.
The Visa will be granted for one entry only.
The Visa application appointment must be requested by contacting the Consular Section at consolato.helsinki(at)esteri.it.
Processing time of the procedure: up to 90 days.
An incomplete application may be rejected or entail longer processing time.
The applicant must appear in person at the appointment, and deliver the required documentation in original.
Documents to submit the day of the appointment:
- Valid passport. Note that the passport must be valid for at least three months after the Visa expiration date, and must have at least two blank pages. The passport will be stored at this Embassy and given back together with the visa, if approved;
- Duly completed application form;
- Copy of the expired/stolen/lost Italian residence permit;
- In the event of loss/theft of the Italian residence permit, copy of the loss/theft report to the police authorities;
- Passport-style photo: white background, not older than 6 months;
- Payment receipt of 116,00 euro (payment information will be given via email). The payment fee is not refundable;
- One-way ticket reservation to Italy;
After the application has been submitted, the Visa Office needs to be authorised by the competent Questura (Police station). The visa will be issued only after the relevant Questura releases the necessary authorisation. For this reason, it is not possible to rush the processing time.
The Consular Section has full authority in evaluating the request and can ask for further documentation and/or a personal interview, if deemed necessary, in addition to the documentation that has already been submitted.
As an example, the applicant can be required to submit a Self-statement detailing: the reason for requesting a re-entry visa, the exact date of departure from Italy and the applicant’s residence address in Italy. Additional documentation supporting the Visa request can be attached to the statement.
Submitting the required documents does not guarantee the issuance of a visa.
The information outlined above may be subject to change without prior notice. No liability will be accepted for the consequences of such changes.
