The Visa for self-employment purposes allows to: perform steady self-employment activities of industrial, professional, handcrafted or commercial nature; to set up a limited or partnership company; to hold corporate offices. In order to obtain this visa type, it is required to possess the moral and professional requisites established by the Italian legislation for Italian citizens to carry out the same type of activities.
The appointment must be requested by contacting the Consular Section at consolato.helsinki(at)esteri.it.
Processing time of the procedure: up to 90 days. It is recommended to contact the Consular Section with an adequate advance.
An incomplete application may be rejected or entail longer processing time.
The applicant must appear in person at the appointment, with all the required documents in original.
Documents to submit the day of the appointment:
- Valid passport. Note that the passport must be valid for at least three months after the Visa expiration date, and must have at least two blank pages. The passport will be stored at this Embassy and given back together with the visa, if approved;
- Valid Finnish residence permit;
- Duly completed application form;
- Proof of accommodation in Italy such as: booking confirmation, rental contract, letter of accommodation (along with the host’s ID);
- One way ticket reservation to Italy;
- Passport-style photo: white background, not older than 6 months;
- Health insurance policy: please note that the destination must be ITALY, the insurance coverage must be reported in detail;
- Payment receipt of 116,00 euro (payment information will be given via email);
- Declaration concerning the abstract identification of the necessary resources to perform the entrepreneurial, commercial or handcrafted activity, issued by the local Chamber of Commerce (Camera di Commercio) in charge for the territory where the activity is carried out. Such amount cannot be lower than the triple of the minimum social welfare yearly income;
- Sufficient economical means to guarantee the amount of the necessary resources mentioned in the Declaration;
- Proof of income, earned during the previous fiscal year, higher than the minimum level provided by the law of exemption from participation in medical and health public assistance (€8.500), already acquired in the country of residence. For this purpose, please send a copy of the individual income tax return of the previous year;
- Declaration of no impediment (Nulla Osta) issued by the competent Italian Police authority (Questura).
The Consular Section has full authority to evaluate the request and can ask for further documentation and/or a personal interview, if deemed necessary, in addition of the documentation that has already been submitted.
Submitting the required documents does not guarantee the issuance of a visa.
